Wake Forest, NC - Mrs. Edna Jeannene Smith was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, surrounded by devoted family and friends on July 15th. Mrs. Smith was born Edna Jeannene Price to Fred F. and Edna M. Price in Canton, NC, and resided in Michigan for many years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Wickie Smith, with whom she shared 50 years of matrimony. Also surviving are her children Eric Smith (Adrienne), Mark Smith (Mary-Ryan) and Julie Smith. Surviving siblings are Fred D. Price (Wanda), Lynda Fowler (Gary), Patricia Phillips (Larry), Terry Price (Cathy), Warren Price (Julie), and Vickie Price. She is also survived by her grandson, Jeffrey Smith, granddaughter, Nikki OToole (Joe) and great granddaughter Zoey Rae OToole. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her brother, David Price. Mrs. Smith, an alumna of Mars Hill College, NC and member of Hope Lutheran Church, Wake Forest, NC, resided in Franklin County, NC since 2004. She will long be remembered for her love of family, the Blue Ridge Mountains, caring for her father for many years, her hospitality and Christian faith, as a member of the Wake Forest Garden Club, and her love of flowers. The family will receive friends from the Raleigh area at Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest, NC from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 3 pm at Anders Rice Funeral Home, Asheville, NC, with Rev. Preston E. Wagner officiating. Visitation with family precedes the memorial service beginning at 2 pm. Following the memorial service, there will be a graveside service at Little Sandy Methodist Cemetery, Leicester, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Transitions LifeCare (Hospice of Wake County) http://transitionslifecare.org/donate/ways-to-donate/.
