Edith Jane Williams Earwood Bishop, 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Aston Park Health Care Center. Mrs. Bishop was as lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was affectionately known as Mom and Mamaw to many others. She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and former member of Laurel Pines Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late John Gilbert Williams and Alverta Margaret Penland Williams and the wife for over 50 years of Emmett Eugene Earwood who died in 1999 and the Rev. Clarence B. Bishop who died in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Cecil John Williams and her sister, Christine Etta Reid. Surviving are her children, Gene Earwood and wife Patty of Conyers, GA, Nancy E. Capps and husband Bill of Weaverville, Bill Earwood and wife Melinda of Duffield, VA and Harold Earwood and wife Kathy of Big Stone Gap, VA; step children, Ed Bishop, Don Heatherly and Suzie Merrell; step sister, Olene Waldrup Cutshall of Asheville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mary Earwood Rice and Janet Roberts Earwood; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Clark E. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:15 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated, however for those that wish, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity. This has been a tough journey for us, as well as mom. At all times, her heart was full of love for others - - - she taught us how to live and how to make the journey to Heaven ...
