Edith Crook Coyle

August 30, 1919 — May 9, 2002

Candler - Edith Crook Coyle, a native of Candler and a former resident of Elk Grove Village, Ill. passed away May 9th, 2002 at Silver Bluff Village. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Hardy Crook and Lila Young Crook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Coyle, a native of DesMoines, Iowa who died in 1982; sister, Blanche C. Hipps, 3 brothers, Sgt. T.H. Crook, Jr., Fred Crook of Alvin Texas and Benjamin L. Crook of Cruso. Mrs. Coyle was a graduate of Candler High School and Central Weslyan College, winning a scholarship to Greenville College, Greenville, Ill.. Upon graduation, she was employed at Northwestern University Medical Center of Chicago, Ill. in Orthopedic Surgery. She retired in 1980 and returned to Buncombe County. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She is survived by five sisters, Christine Crook, Miriam Warren and Marjorie Arrowood of Candler, Ernestine Rush of Hayesville and Maxine Evans of Inman, S.C. A private graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. James Johnson officiating. Anders-Rice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements..
