Candler – Edith Ray Hawkins Blankenship, 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Carepartners Solace Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Henry Hawkins and Genieve Byrd Hawkins and the wife of the late Charles James Blankenship.
Mrs. Blankenship was a lifelong member of Bent Creek Baptist Church. She was a longtime HER2/neu Breast Cancer survivor! She was courageous; she was not afraid, for she knew the Lord Thy God was with her all the way. “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Rebecca Ann Hamilton and husband Russell, Gary Clayton Blankenship and wife Daphne, and Denise Dianne Blankenship; grandchildren: Travis Jason Hamilton, Trent Lamar Hamilton, Christin Renee Blankenship, Nicholas Tyler McCoy, Katie Blankenship Harris, and Kara Blankenship Cummings; great-grandchildren: Luke, Cross, Jude, Rock, Oak, Clayton, Tucker, Lilly, Joseph, Tanner, Kinsley, Easton, Kyson, and Evan; sisters: Mary Helen Doerler and Ann Waite; brother, Johnny Hawkins and wife Verba; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Travis Hamilton officiating.
