Weaverville – Dovie Matilda Marler Rice, 94, of 109 Sprouse Town Road, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mrs. Rice was a daughter of the late Joseph Marler and Bonnie Mae Sprouse Marler and the wife of Clarence “Pete” Rice who died April 7, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her sons, J.B. Rice and Otis Rice, daughter, Bonnie Mae Rice and three siblings.
She along with her husband managed motels and was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Marler (Ronnie) of Weaverville and Lettie Mae Hensley (Steve) of Ware Shoals, SC; grandchildren, Ronnie Marler (Misty), Chad Rice, Candace Rice (Kirk), Matthew Rice, Elizabeth Hardy (Marcus), Nicole Wysong (Justin), Stephanie Hensley and Ashley Hensley (Bre); step grandchildren, Lydia Wilson (Brian) and Jackie Cooper; great grandchildren, Dallas (Paige), Nakaila, Landon, Shelby, Skylar, Lilly, Cayden, Candler, Brinson, Talon, Chloe, Peyton, Langston, Journey, Brooklyn and Roman; step great grandchildren, Austin, Allison, Brittany, Serenity, Jocelyn and Grace.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Sunday, November 20, 2022 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Martin officiating. Burial will be in Refuge Cemetery, Jupiter Road, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45pm Sunday prior to the services at the funeral home.
A special thanks to all the Nurses and Therapist at Greens at Weaverville and CarePartners John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center for their love and care given to our mother and our family during her stay.
