Asheville – Douglas “Doug” Wayne Braswell, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Mission Hospital.
A native of Guilford County, he spent the majority of his life in Buncombe County. He was a son of Molly Kate Thomas Braswell and the late Wallace Terry Braswell.
Doug proudly worked alongside his family at their business, Erwin Hills Wayside Furniture, for 52 years. He loved golfing, going to the beach, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, and searching for the best waterfalls in the mountains.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his sons: Luke Braswell and wife Ashley, and Sean Braswell; grandchildren: Amelia, John, and Theodore; his “favorite ex-wife”, Mavis Braswell; siblings: Tom Braswell and wife Patrice, Teresa Jamison and husband Mike, and Mike Braswell and wife Karen; many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends; and his beloved dog, Frankie.
Doug was a wonderful son, father and Papaw, and a friend to many. He treasured his time with his kids and grandchildren. His impact will last for generations and the weight of this loss will be felt for years to come.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Kelvin Moseley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to serve the Braswell family.
