Dorothy Suttle West

Asheville - Dorothy Suttle West, 83, died Tuesday April 1, 2003 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 1977 from Southern Bell after 30 years of service as a Chief Operator and was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Oliver Charles and Hazel Lee Suttle and the wife of the late John Alexander West. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; O.C. Suttle and Robert Suttle. Surviving are her sisters; Louise Phipps of Farmington Hills, Mich., Josephine Pyatt of Marion , and Betty Zimmerman of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Schrader officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with Philip Zimmerman, Michael Zimmerman, Patrick Zimmerman and Jeff Zimmerman serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M.
