Dorothy Kuykendall Lawrence

Asheville - Dorothy Mae Kuykendall Lawrence, 84 of 35 N. Griffing Blvd. died Saturday September 11, 2004 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek after a period of declining health. A native of Taylorsville, she was a lifelong resident of Asheville. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1932 and served as the Secretary and Treasurer from October 1, 1951 to June 30, 1996 a total of 45 years. She was a tour guide for Wilcox World Tours, Templeton Tours and Barnette Tours. She was a daughter of the late Spencer Earl Kuykendall and Theodocia Bedingfield Kuykendall and was the wife of the late Paul J. Lawrence who passed away June 1, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Kuykendall Aiken; brother, Dale Kuykendall and lifelong friend Earsley Tesner. Surviving are her son, Jack M. Lawrence and daughter-in-law, Lillian P. Lawrence of Asheville; grandson, Michael J. Lawrence of Asheville, granddaughter, Amalia P. Lawrence of Asheville; great grandson, Paul Michael Lawrence; 2 great granddaughters, Anastasia and Alexandra Lawrence and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. H. L. Wilson, and Stanley Peek officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
