ASHEVILLE - DOROTHY ELIZABETH TILLOTSON GRAY, WHO WAS BORN AUGUST 6, 1911 IN HARTSVILLE, S.C., DIED SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2001 AT HER RESIDENCE AT THE WESTERN N.C. BAPTIST HOME FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS. SHE RECEIVED HER B.A. DEGREE FROM WINTHROP COLLEGE IN 1933 IN ENGLISH EDUCATION AND RESIDED IN GASTONIA FOR 55 YEARS PRIOR TO MOVING TO ASHEVILLE IN 1997. SHE WAS A PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER AND LIBRARIAN WITH THE GASTON COUNTY AND GASTONIA CITY SCHOOL SYSTEMS. MRS. GRAY WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF GASTONIA WHERE MEMBER OF THE CHURCH CIRCLE AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE GASTONIA BOOK CLUB AND THE GARDEN CLUB. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE WILLIAM EDWARD AND EMMA LOU CANNON TILLOTSON AND THE WIFE OF THE LATE DAVID GRAHAM GRAY. SURVIVING ARE HER DAUGHTER, DOROTHY G. SHINN AND HUSBAND, RONALD SHINN AND GRANDDAUGHTER NANCY CANNON SHINN ALL OF AKRON, OHIO; SON, DAVID G. GRAY, JR. AND WIFE, MARILYN T. GRAY AND GRANDCHILDREN, NATALIE E. GRAY AND EMILY C. GRAY ALL OF ASHEVILLE; GRANDSON, DAVID G. GRAY, III OF NEW YORK, NEW YORK AND NIECE, ELSIE L. TRANTHAM OF ASHEVILLE. MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD 11 A.M. TUESDAY AT THE COVENANT VILLAGE CHAPEL IN GASTONIA WITH PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICES TO BE HELD IN HARTSVILLE, S.C. AT A LATER DATE. ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME IN CHARGE OF LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS.
