Dorothy Crowder Hyatt

Candler - Dorothy Mae Crowder Hyatt, 69, went to be with the Lord on Thursday , July 17, 2003. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Jess L. and Pansy Mae Riddle Crowder. Mrs. Hyatt was a 1952 graduate of Emma High School and was employed by Roses, Meyers Arnold, Bon Marche and for the last sixteen years with Hamricks of Asheville. She attended Maple Ridge Baptist Church. She was a loving and faithful wife of 46 years to the late Raymond Eugene Hyatt. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John, Harvey, Charles, and Cecil Crowder, and sister, Ruth Filkins. Mrs. Hyatt is survived by three daughters, Joyce Smith and her husband Michael, Angela Smith and her husband Patrick and Brenda Lee Hyatt; three grandchildren, Kristen, Tyler, and Stacie Smith all of Candler; sisters, Rachel C. Ogle of Asheville and Linda C. Swayngim of Hickory; half sister, Martha Cooper of Chantilly, VA; sister-in-law, Winifred Crowder of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ebb Jenkins, Daniel Stephenson and Steve Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
