Dorothy Anders Sams

Dorothy Anders Sams, 74, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County she was the daughter of the late Porter and Eva Orr Anders. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Sams, who passed away June 6, 2014; sisters: Beatrice Mchome, Helen Wyatt, and Mildred Kennedy; brothers: Eddie Anders, and Paul Anders; and a great granddaughter, Abigail Dockery. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Marie Dockery and husband Joel of Leicester; sons: David Sams and Joseph Sams both of Leicester; a brother, Richard Anders and wife Rita of Galesburg, IL; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a good wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Chaplin Brian Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
