Dorothy A. Owens

Asheville - Dorothy Driver Owens, 86, of 8 Patriots Drive joined with her Savior Sunday, January 9, 2011. A native of McRae, GA, she had resided in Asheville since December 22, 1968. She retired April 28, 1989 after 20 years of service with Square D as a machine operator and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, where a member of the Perry Bible Class. Mrs. Owens was a daughter of the late James Walter Driver and Leila Maude Cadwell Driver. She was also preceded in death by her sons, David Kenneth Owens, formerly of Asheville & Stephen Owens, formerly of Atlanta, GA and brother, Walter Erwin Driver, formerly of Ft. Valley, GA. Surviving are her daughters, Dianne Giniebra of Belle Glade, FL, Theresa Corbin of Buckeye, AZ and Vicki Gilbert of Asheville; sister, Sylvia Johnson of Centerville, GA; brothers, James Driver of Charleston, SC and Donnie Driver of Elk Creek, MO; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She loved her family, her family in Christ and her friends. We all have fond memories of her and know we will have a grand reunion one day. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday at West Asheville Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 P.M.
