Doris Metcalf Fletcher

West Asheville Doris Metcalf Fletcher, 72, of 863 Johnston School Road died Sunday, September 25, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County and a resident of Buncombe County since 1958, she was a daughter of the late Dosser and Bonnie English Metcalf. She was the wife of the late Max Zelf Porche who died in 1983 and the late Jerry Fletcher who died in 2003. Mrs. Fletcher was formerly employed with Mars Manufacturing Company and was a Home Maker. Surviving are her sons, Mardi Porche and wife Suzanne of Candler, Roger Porche of Black Mountain and Michael Porche and companion Teresa Hart of Asheville; daughters, Linda Farmer and husband, Ron of Brentwood, TN, Deonne Reese of Leicester and Debra Jones of Asheville; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Teddy Kiser of Maiden and Sherry Wiseman of Lincolnton; brothers, Kelly Metcalf of Lincolnton and R.D. Metcalf of Mars Hill. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Upper Laurel Baptist Church with the Rev. Cline Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
