Doris M. Grant

Swannanoa - Doris Minyard Grant, 73, of 1339 Bee Tree Road died Thursday June 1, 2006 at the John F. Keever Solace Center after a brief illness. A native of Cherokee County, she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She worked for Vanderbilt Shirt Company for several years and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She was a daughter of Cora Crisp Minyard of Enka and the wife of the late Joseph Cecil Grant. She was also preceded in death by a son, J.C. Grant. Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughters: Linda G. Reese and husband Bill of Swannanoa, Brenda G. Robinson and Tricia G. Shriner both of Asheville; brother: Jack B. Minyard and wife Jan of Asheville; sisters: Mary Woodruff of Haywood County and Maxine Stines of Asheville; grandchildren: Kimberly Carpenter and husband Justin, Christopher Reese and wife Amy, Jenelle Shriner, Loren Shriner, Rick Shriner, Jennifer Robinson and Micheal Robinson and great grandchildren: Ashley Reese, Emory Carpenter, Ciera Carpenter and Gavin Reese. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Charles A. Shelton officiating.
