Doris Lee Stone

Doris Lee Hunter Stone, 94, of 162 Piney Ridge Drive, went to be with her beloved Husband, Friday, November 11, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Stone was born in Forsyth County and a resident of Buncombe and Henderson Counties since 1970. She was the daughter of the late William Hoyt Hunter, Sr and Mallie Lee Thornlowe Hunter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman George Stone, Sr. who died October 30, 2012 and her daughter, Marcia Brooks formerly of Clayton.

She was a member of Fletcher UMC where former Children’s Sunday School Class Teacher, was an avid seamstress, enjoyed working with many different crafts and was a die-hard Duke Fan.

Surviving are her children, Larry Stone (Ellen) of Murrells Inlet, SC, George Stone, Jr. (Ernestine) of Asheville, David Stone of Jasper, GA, Lisa Stone (Stephanie) and Susan Merrill all of Hendersonville; son in law, Carl Brooks of Clayton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Fletcher UMC with the Rev. Randy Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Thursday prior to the services at the church.
