Doris "Chris" Vick

Swannanoa - Doris Christine Chris Vick, 71, of Swannanoa, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Madison County, Chris had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She had retired from Beacon Mfg, and was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church. Chris was a loving wife and mother, and an avid pet lover. Chris was the daughter of the late Roy and Ellen Shetley Beasley. She was also preceded in death by a son, Timmy Vick. Surviving are her husband of 39 year, James Vick; children: Tammy Melton and husband David, Tony Vick and wife Gladys, Cindy McCoy and husband Alan, and Michelle Camera and husband Joseph; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Craig Beasley and wife Faye and Gregory Beasley and wife Marjorie; sister, Wanda Crisp and husband Harold; a niece and two nephews; and her loving dog, Peppy, and cat, Stripes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
