Dorcas Butuna

Arden – Dorcas Butuna, 75, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

She was born on October 14, 1947, in the Marshall Islands to Barton Butuna and Lekmen Zakious Butuna. In 2001 she moved to the Asheville area.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son: Jeffery Butuna and daughter: Jenny Butuna.

Surviving are her children: Joan Mclean and husband William, Christiana Alessio and husband Dennis, Joe Kaious and wife Lita Myazoe, Shirlynn Barton, Twyla Butuna Koniske and husband Edward “Jester; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening beginning at 1 pm and ending the following morning at the Woodfin Community Center, and for 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
