Dora "Dot" Sumner

Asheville Dora Dot Sue Buckner Sumner, 81, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018. A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Winfred Roy Buckner and Ruby Sexton Buckner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Neil Sumner who died December 8, 2000. Mrs. Sumner retired in 1990 as an Eligibility Specialist with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services and was a long-standing member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Surviving are her sons, Greg N. Sumner and wife Diane of Alexander and Anthony K. Sumner and wife Krista, and their sons, Mathew and Morgan Sumner, all of Fairview. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Chapel with Chaplain Dorri Sherrill officiating.
