Doniese Hughes Goodnough

November 23, 1932 — November 21, 2022

Leicester –Doniese Hughes Goodnough, 89, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.


A native of Rutherford County and resided in Buncombe County. She worked at Square-D and in retail sales and was active in the US Marine Corps League Ladies Auxiliary.


Mrs. Goodnough was a daughter of the late “W.W.” Waits Waye Hughes and Jeanette Sinclair Hughes and wife of the late Norman Hugh Goodnough. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Trantham (Donald) and Sylvia Hughes.


Surviving are her sons, Kievan Goodnough of Asheville and David Goodnough (Joyce) of Dover, DE; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Janis Sprouse (Hillard); brothers, James “Jim” Hughes (Sarah) and David Hughes, and many loving nieces and nephews.


A celebration of Mrs. Goodnough’s life be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 5 till 7 PM in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
