Donald Harmon

July 16, 1942 — January 5, 2016

Arden Donald Ray Harmon, 73, of 25 Short Glenn Bridge Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1961. He retired in 1995 from Dynatex Finishing Company where he served as Supervisor and was former Owner & Operator of Harmon Contracting Company. Mr. Harmon was a son of the late George Redmon Harmon and Ida Mae Mars Harmon and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Harmon. Surviving are his loving wife and companion of 54 years, Ruth M. Harmon of the home; sons, Jerry Harmon of Hendersonville and Kenneth Harmon of Arden; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren including his great grandson, Kash whom he raised and was the love of his life; sisters, Orlie Norton (Vernon) and Clota Metcalf all of Marshall and Mary Wyatt (David) of Kentucky; brothers, Raymond Harmon of Oakley and Marlon Harmon of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. A special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Heart Tower of Mission Hospital and Dr. Raymond Thruland and his staff at the Cancer Center for their love and care given to our family during this time.
