Donald Garland

Asheville Donald Garland, 71, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Madison County, Mr. Garland had resided in Buncombe County for the past 55 years, and retired as the owner/operator of his own roofing company. He was the son of the late James and Tina Silvers Garland, and the husband of Evelyn Jackson Garland, who passed away August 17, 2008. Mr. Garland was also preceded in death by a son, David Garland, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his daughters: Wendy Brown, and Melissa Austin and husband Jeffrey Austin, Sr.; son, Jeffrey Garland; grandchildren: Maranda P. Bunting and husband Clay, LCPL Donald J. Garland and wife Jacqui, Samantha B. Searcy and husband Christopher, David J. Garland; Jeffrey Austin, Jr., and Joseph Austin; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Oxner officiating.
