Donald "Donnie" Lee Maynard

Weaverville – Donnie Lee Maynard, 74, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Carepartners Solace Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Clyde “JC” Maynard and Martha Bush Maynard. He was also preceded in death by his nephews, Tommy Jones and Matthew Jones.

Donnie worked with his daddy at JC’s Auto Service for many years. He enjoyed everything about cars, especially racing and building model cars.

Surviving are his wife, Elsira Pers Maynard of Waynesville; children: Roger Maynard and wife Cindy, Heather Maynard, Travis Maynard and wife Robyn; step-children: Jonathan, Fannie, Nash, David, and Dennis; granddaughters: Raegan Walker and wife Ivy, and Hunter Maynard, and step-grandchildren, Jazz and Orrin; 21 step-grandchildren; sister, Debbie Maynard Jones and husband Tom; and beloved dogs, Bear and Tag.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Troy Rogers officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Maynard family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Roger and Cindy, and Aunt Faye Gunn for all their care given to Donnie over the past several years, and more recently to Melissa and Catrina Wilson
