Dennis Lafevers

August 4, 1950 — June 24, 2017

Asheville - Dennis Lane LaFevers, 66, passed away Saturday June 24th, 2017. He was a native of Burke County, but spent most of his life in Asheville, NC. Dennis retired from the bridge department of Norfolk Southern Railway and was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Dennis loved Jesus and exemplified that in his everyday life and in his battle with cancer over the last 2 years. He was an amazing husband, father and papaw. He had a kind, gentle, humble spirit and everyone he met became a friend. Dennis was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to make people laugh. Dennis was the son of the late James Clyde and Mary Maxine LaFevers. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger LaFevers. Surviving are his wife of 32 years Terri LaFevers; daughter, Lindsey Thomsson and husband Stephen along with baby T on the way; son Lucas LaFevers and wife Meagan and grandson, Abel. He is also survived by a large extended family and many close friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 1st, at 1pm at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Friday June 30th at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Friends will have an opportunity to share their favorite memories of Dennis by filling in slips of paper and placing them in a Memory Box at the church during visitation. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
