Delphia Dean Fults

Candler - Delphia Dean Morton Fults, 104, of 93 Holly Hill Drive, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center following a period of declining health. Born August 13, 1897 in San Jose, California. She was the daughter of the late Rolla Alexander Morton and Sarah Louisa Miles Morton and was also preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters. She was married to Charles Bentley Fults November 21, 1923, who preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Fults completed pre-nursing studies at Columbia Union College in Washington, D.C. and finished nurses training at St. Helena Adventist Hospital in St. Helena, CA in 1921, She worked as a coronary care nurse at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA and as a private nurse for the Wells Family (of the Wells Fargo Security Co.). She and her husband operated the Florence Nightingale convalescent residence in Santa Ana during the depression and war years. After her nursing career she worked as a real estate broker in Solana Beach, CA before retiring with her husband to the Candler area in 1976. She was a long time member of the PEO sisterhood. Surviving are her son, Dr. Charles Bentley Fults, Jr. and his wife Rokie of Desert Hot Springs, CA; daughters, Marjorie Jeanne Sommerville and her husband, Dr. Lewis C. Sommerville of Candler and Nancy Anne White and her husband, Dewayne White of Cherry Valley, CA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Delphias formula for a long life was a healthy diet, mental and physical exercise, a positive attitude, a song in the heart and unfailing faith in the imminent return of Jesus Christ. Service will be held at 2 pm Wednesdsay at the Mt. Pisgah Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ted Graves officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Three Angels Broadcasting Network, P.O. Box 220, West Frankfort, Illinois 62896-0220.
