Dellis Greene

Marshall Dellis Greene, 87, of 146 Collins Road passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. He was born in Buncombe County and was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He retired in 1967 from American Enka and was a member of Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Greene was a son of the late Elon Leburn and Annie Mae Metcalf Greene and the husband of Frances Viola Reece Greene who died in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Forrest Dell Greene and Sheldon Klyne Greene; grandson, Brandon M. Greene; very special loving companion, Harriet King; sisters, Gay Rice, Helen Franklin and Lucille Hughey; and brothers, Ellis, Don and Bon Greene. Surviving are his children, Stephen O. Greene and Vetina L. Woodard & husband Michael; grandchildren, Bradley Greene (Alicia), Jonathon Greene, Miranda Norton (Mark), Kayla Woodard and Michelle Hensley and a host of great grandchildren; brother, Bruce E. Greene (Rebecca) and children of Harriet King, Bud King, Elaine Kiser and Lonnie King. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Woodard and Rev. Stephen O. Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may view and visit Mr. Greene at Anders-Rice Funeral Home until noon Saturday when he will be taken to the church for the family to receive friends 1 hour prior to the services. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Vetina Woodard, Marshall. A special thanks to all the staff of CarePartners Hospice for their love and care.
