Dee Pickens

Candler Cordelia Pearl Dee Pickens, 70, of Candler, went to be with her Lord Friday, July 30, 2010. A native of Buncombe County, Dee was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Sherman Young, Sr. and Lula Francis Young. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Rev. Michael J. Pickens; children: Dave, Mark, Gina and Robert; brothers: Sherman, Jr. and Harold; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael J. Pickens, Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, TN, 38103. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Pickens family.
