Deborah S. Woodby

May 18, 1957 — November 16, 2015

Alexander Deborah Ann Debbie Shope Woodby, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 16, 2015. Debbie was born on May 18, 1957 to James and Gail Shope and grew up in Candler, NC, graduating from Enka High School in 1975. She married Coy Michael Woodby and they had two sons, Jason, married to Aliceanne and Brian, married to Christina, whom they raised in Asheville. Debbie is survived by her husband, both parents, her sister Cindy Jackson, her two sons and their wives and a granddaughter, Brooke. She was a childhood member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and later served as a Sunday School Teacher at Sunrise Baptist Church. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived a life exemplifying patience, perseverance and love as she looked to Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of her faith and consistently sought Him in His word, raising her sons reading scripture and praying daily. And, just as Paul in 2 Timothy says, she too has fought the good fight, finished the race, and has kept the faith and is now being awarded the crown of righteousness. Many of her family, friends and co-workers were impacted by her acts of kindness and gratitude towards others. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, November 20, 2015 at Sunrise Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Buchanan and Rev. Jackie Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to: HOPE Womens Cancer Center, PO Box 16948, Asheville, NC 28816.
