Dean Thorpe

Fletcher Earl Dean Thorpe, 55, of 38 Franklin Farm Road, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Asheville, he was a Residential & Commercial Building Contractor. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church-Fairview, a member of the USTRC-US Team Roping Association and was an avid fisherman. A very loving and dedicated husband, father, son and brother, he loved his Lord and enjoyed his family, horses and his farm. Mr. Thorpe was a son of Evelyn Mae Gregory Thorpe of Fairview and the late James Zebual Thorpe. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Thorpe. Surviving in addition to his mother are his girls, his wife, Kathy Elaine Scott Thorpe, whom he married May 23, 1981 and daughters, Lindsey Thorpe and Lauren Thorpe all of which he loved very much; sister, Ina Treadway (Bob) of Port Orange, FL; brothers, Danny Lee Thorpe of Fairview and Jerry Lewis Thorpe (Tina) of Asheville; sisters-in-law, Juanita Styles, Glenda Cagle and Pat Standridge (Jim) all of Asheville; brothers-in-law, Eddie Scott (Judy) of Old Fort and Lee Scott of Asheville and several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Ingle and Darin Lipe with whom were constantly by his side during his illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Ponder, Rev. Chester Owenby and Rev. Robert Ponder officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Sunday prior to services at the church.
