D.C. Jr. Mckinney

Arden D.C. McKinney, Jr., 83, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he had resided in McDowell County before moving to Buncombe County in 1967. He retired in 2002 as a Captain and Assistant Chief after 22 years of service with the Biltmore Forest Police Department. He attended Arden Presbyterian Church and Bible Baptist Church and was a Korean War veteran with the U.S. Army Signal Corp. Mr. McKinney was the son of the late D. Chet McKinney and Molly Hopson McKinney and husband of Opal Ferguson McKinney who died July 26, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Deena McKinney and husband Buck Marchinton and grandson, Ian Marchinton all of Waynesboro, GA; sisters, Vada Gaddy and Patsy Padgett both of Marion and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 23, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Chrystal Cook officiating. The family will receive friends following memorial services at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Green Hills Cemetery.
