Mills River – On February 14, 2020, David Russell McClure, 60, of Mills River, Victoriously ran into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long, brave battle with cancer. Raised in Asheville, he was the son of the late Marvin and Eva McClure, and a graduate of Erwin High School. A lover of the outdoors, David owned his own landscaping business. David is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Fletcher McClure; two daughters: Kaitlyn McClure Clough (Grey), and Victoria McClure; one step-daughter, Kandis Deaton (Brian); five precious and adored grandchildren: Elizabeth Clough, Anna Clough, Jacob Deaton, Joseph Deaton, and Hallie Deaton; and one sister, Teresa McClure Buck (Victor). The family takes comfort in the Word of God, which says: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Family and friends will gather to remember his life during services at 5 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2020 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Allen Rash officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. The McClure family wishes to thank Universal Healthcare of Fletcher and Advent Park Ridge Hospital for their excellent care.
