David Robinson, Sr.

Candler – David William Robinson, Sr., 81, of 12 Electra Drive, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his residence. A native and resident for most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired from Mountain Mobility, and formerly served in law enforcement with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Dept under Harry P. Clay and Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Dept and also had served in the US Army. Mr. Robinson was a son of the late Ernest Boyd Robinson and Edith Carllee Rumbough Robinson, and husband of Ruth Elizabeth Davis Robinson who died December 28, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bill Robinson who died in 1998 and son, Gary Lee Davis who died in 2020. Surviving are his sons, David Robinson, Jr. (Tammy) and Dale Robinson (Deborah) all of Asheville; daughters, Melinda Carol Teesateskie of Robbinsville, Cynthia Anne Robinson of Arden, Tiffany Oliver (Arien) of Asheville and Alexandra Scott (Alton) of Mills River; sisters, Ina Hodge (Lonnie) of Orange Park, FL and Doris Hensley (Larry) of Alexander; brothers, Elden Robinson (Geraldine) of Leicester and Henry “Boogie” Robinson of Cowpens, SC; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 20, 2020 at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Hensley officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
