David Mcmahan

October 4, 1950 — December 1, 2022

Asheville – David Gary McMahan, 72, of 5 Eve Drive passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at his residence.


Mr. McMahan was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Maude Louise Edwards McMahan. David was the husband of Karen Floreta Miller McMahan who died November 30, 2008 and was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence McMahan.


He was a US Army Veteran having served three tours during the Vietnam War and he also served in the NC National Guard. Mr. McMahan retired following 30 years of service with the City of Asheville Water Department where at the time of his retirement was a Senior Pipe Fitter.


Surviving are his sons, Charles Christian McMahan and Steven Brian McMahan (Nancy) all of Asheville; granddaughters, Macaleigh Sparks and Kaylee Christian McMahan; sister, Linda Waycaster (Danny) of Enka; brothers, Eddie McMahan (Lib) and Ernie McMahan all of Asheville; sister-in-law, Jeannie McMahan of Candler and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Chapel in Black Mountain with Rev. Cecil Jenkins officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the NC National Guard.


The family will receive friends prior to services from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
