Dr. David Martin Gebb, 81, of Brevard, is in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Aug. 27, 2023. He is rejoicing and set free of all his infirmities because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, conquered death and rose from the dead.
His loving and faithful parents were Dr. Lynnwood George Gebb, and Cora Ellen Post Gebb. He leaves behind his sisters, Dorcas Ellen Hall, of Snowhomish, Washington and Miriam Linda Gebb (missionary for 44 years), of Ecuador.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Louella Cornwell Priester Gebb, of Brevard and ex-wife Evon Wadsworth, of 15 years, of Stuart’s Draft, Virginia He loved his 10 children and 13 grandchildren dearly: Dr. Anita (Michael) Bell, grandsons, Brady and Brice; Renee (Chris) Bauserman, granddaughters, Katelyn and Madison and Rachel (Shaun) Gebb, granddaughters, Paige and Lauren; Dr. Paul (Brooke) Gebb, grandchildren Greyson, Carter, and Townley; Jeremy (Cathy) Priester, granddaughter, Grace; Mathew Priester; Elizabeth (Jeremy) Sivore, grandchildren, Alexander and Emily; Rebecca (Doug) Gebb; David (Johanna) Gebb, granddaughter, Annelise; and last but not least, Jonathan (Katy) Gebb.
Dr. Gebb attended Hampden DuBose Academy, Wheaton College and Miami School of Medicine, followed by medical internships at Winston-Salem Baptist Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ohio. He served as a lieutenant in the Navy for three years. He practiced medicine as a OB/GYN for 30 years. He cherished the time he spent with his patients, delivering babies and developing friendships with colleagues along the way.
He had fond memories of times spent on mission trips to Haiti, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast (joined by his family). He also enjoyed his hobby farm in the beautiful Brevard mountains. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.
His body will be donated for medical science and research to continue helping others.
A celebration of life/memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept 10, at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 645 Bert Lane, in Brevard.
The family is thankful for the excellent medical care provided by Charles George VA and Transylvania County Hospice Care Partners. The family is also thankful for the support of friends during his care.
