David Lee Austin

Woodfin David Lee Shorty Austin, 59, of 134 Gorman Bridge Road, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a machinist and attended Biltmore Church-West Asheville Campus. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved riding his Harley. He was the son of Wilma Corn Momkes of Asheville and the late Bruce Lee Austin. Surviving in addition to his mother are his step father, Hans Momkes; step mother, Ruby Austin; sister, Shauna Pope and husband Anthony and special niece, Addyson Pope all of Asheville; his beloved dog, Bandit; aunts, Patricia Corn Mayfield and Judy Austin Griffin; uncle, Phillip Dale Corn and numerous cousins, including his special cousin, Tommy Rogers. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 25, 2018 at Biltmore Church-West Asheville Campus with Pastor Jeremy Woods and Pastor Logan Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church.
