Asheville –David Eugene Buckner, 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, November 11, 2022, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Cora Lee Hendricks Miller and Fred Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Warren Buckner; son, Freddie Eugene Buckner; daughter, Eugenia Buckner; brother, Lester Buckner, Jr.; and great-niece, Brandy Gail Ballard.
David graduated from Lee Edwards High School and worked for many years for M.B. Haynes as a lineman and warehouse manager. He was a sports and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed being outdoors whether he was walking through the woods or hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his mornings at McDonalds with his friends where he could talk about guns and simpler times.
He is survived by his fiancée and best-friend, Joyce Elaine Hunter; step-daughter, Tammy Warren Fox and husband Randy; step-grandson, Alex Warren and fiancée Nicole Sams; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Warren, and Jillian Warren; nieces: Rhonda Buckner Carter, and Lisa Buckner Ballard and husband Robert; great-nieces and nephews: Sherry Daniel, Samantha Crawford, David Michael Ballard, and Jason Ballard; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
