Darlene Hensley Mckinney

Asheville - Darlene Hensley McKinney, 68, of 8 Valle Vista Dr. died Monday, December 16, 2002 at Mission St. Josephs Health System. Raised in Buncombe County, she had lived in the Atlanta area for 20 years before moving back to Buncombe County in 1988. She was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and St. Genevieve-of-the-Pines Junior College. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the Asheville First Presbyterian Church and was retired from the Social Security Administration. She worked part time with Interim Health Care, Rehabilitation Concepts, and volunteered with the Health Adventure. She was the daughter of the late Rev. M. Vernon and Maude Ruth Ramsey Hensley. Surviving are her husband, John Alan McKinney, Sr. of the home; sons, David Brian McKinney of Atlanta, GA and J. Alan McKinney, Jr. and wife Gail of Asheville; brother, Berlon Hensley of Asheville; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the Campbell Chapel of the Asheville First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Pete Peery officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
