Darlene Butner

Asheville – Debra Darlene Banks Butner, 67, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Ms. Butner had worked for the past 12 years at the Citi Stop Convenience Store on the corner of Patton Avenue and Johnston Boulevard. Her whole world was her family, and she loved her sons and grandchildren with all of her heart. Ms. Butner was the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Banks. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Davey and Rickie Banks. Surviving are her sons: Michael Butner, Jr. and wife Samantha, and Christopher Butner; grandchildren: Kayla, Lucas, and Logan; brothers: Roger Banks and Robert “Burt” Banks; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Buncombe PTO, EC Department, 175 Erwin Hills Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
