Dale W. Parker

September 23, 1927 — March 14, 2004

Asheville - Dale Washington Parker, 76, of 42 Rocky Ridge Road, died Sunday March 14, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, he was formerly employed with Buck Stove Co. and American Enka Corporation. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church where he served on the cemetery reclamation committee. Mr. Parker was a veteran of W.W. II having served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late James Floyd and Sarah Ella Cagle Parker and was also preceded in death by brothers, James and Preston Parker. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Holcombe Parker of the home; stepmother, Althea Parker Askew of Asheville; daughter, Marla Parker and fiancee, Vernon Brock, Jr. of Simpsonville, SC.; sons, J. C. Parker and wife Valerie of Zionsville, PA., Phillip Parker and wife Melissa of Candler and Jeff Parker and friend Janice Darr of Candler; grandchildren, Brandon and Andee Parker, Ben and Hannah Parker, Phelichia Harrin, Brooklyn Parker and Brittany Darr; sisters, Hilda Wright, Grace Worley and Sue Wooten all of Asheville and Genevieve Brown of Greenville, SC. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial to follow at the WNC State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
