Comer W. Stephens

Marietta, GA - Comer Watson Stephens, 86, passed from this life at Northside Hospital on January 18, 2004 following a brief illness. A native of Athens, Georgia. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his wife the former Ruth Chandler. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Luther James Stephens formerly of Athens, Ga. A veteran of World War II. Mr. Stephens owned and operated Stephens Upholstering Company in Asheville and later in Avondale Estates, Georgia. He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Marietta. Surviving are his daughter and son in law, Pam and Wendy Neville of Marietta, Ga., son and daughter in law, Kenneth and Shirley Stephens of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Melissa Robbins of Mulvane, Kansas, Sabrina Warren of Loganville, GA, and Jessica Stephens of Augusta, GA; great granddaughter, Emma Robbins of Mulvane, Kansas; brother, Norman Stephens of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Bridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Clark E. Henderson and Rev. Leroy Denton officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with his nephews, Joe Allman, Ray Allman, Sam Blackwell, Felton Stephens, Lane Stephens and Tim Stephens serving as pallbearers. Mr. Stephens will be at Anders-Rice Funeral Home where he will remain until taken to the church one hour prior to services.
