Clyde R. Redden

June 4, 1946 — December 28, 2018

Asheville Clyde Ray Redden, 72, of 38 Skyland Circle, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2018 at his home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2013 from the Buncombe County School System Maintenance Dept following 24 years of service as an electrician. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, a lifelong member of the Erwin Youth League, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge #118, a 1965 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School and US Army Vietnam Veteran Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Redden was the son of the late Minret ODell Redden and Emmalee Corn Redden and was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles and sisters, Anna Dell and Joan. Surviving are his wife, whom he married April 4, 1970, Clara Jones Redden of the home; son, William W. Redden (Judith) of Asheville; daughter, Christine R. Atkins (Kevin) of Asheville; grandchildren, Patrick Redden (Katelyn), Preston Redden (Lauren), Chase Redmon, Khristian Atkins and Brendon Atkins; great grandson, Granger Redden; sister, Vicky Webb (David) of Candler; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Lee Bell and wife, Debbie of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 31, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors to be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
