Clyde Messer

June 30, 1934 — October 24, 2012

Candler William Clyde Messer, 78, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1989 following 35 years of service as Owner and Operator of Clydes Heating & Cooling. Mr. Messer was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and church. He was the son of the late William Charles and Belle Stamey Messer and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Bill Messer, Jack Messer, Harold Messer and Carroll Messer. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Edith Sue Vance Messer of the home; children, Mike Messer (Kim), Vickie Childers (Morris), David Bo Messer (Pat), Donna Dorlan (Scotty) all of Candler; grandchildren, Christopher Childers of Atlanta, GA, Bradley Messer (Sarina) of Candler and Sarah Hampton (Johnny) of Duncan, SC; great grandson, Tucker Messer of Candler and several nieces and nephews. Memorial graveside services will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Gene King and Rev. Derrick McCarson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. A Video Tribute will be available for a limited time. Click Here
