Clyde King

August 5, 1941 — December 31, 2016

Leicester Ernest Clyde King, 75, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. King spent most of his life in sales, and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was a skilled woodworker, making several pieces of furniture and decorations for family members. His passion, however, was spending time with his family and friends. Mr. King was the son of the late Ernest and Margie Hall King. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Evelyn Chapman and Doris King; and a brother, J.C. King. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Christine Hawkins King; children: Stephen King and wife Michele, Teresa Mace and husband Don, and Brian King and wife Tonya; nine grandchildren: Krys, Kelly, Roger, Kacie (Jason), Geoffrey, Jeremy, Olivia, Chelsea, and Makayla; two sisters: Reva King and husband Leo, and Eva Mae Worley and husband Doug; four brothers: Hubert King, William King and wife Earlene, Wayne King, and Hurley King and wife Melinda; sister-in-law, Martha King; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Worley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 2:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
