Asheville - Clyde Allison Roberts, 90, of 3 Oak Forest Court, died Wednesday October 24, 2001 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from American Enka Corp. in 1974 after 37 years of service. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church since 1941 and was active in the church choir. He was a son of the late Oscar and Josie Wilde Roberts and the husband of the late Edna Sprinkle Roberts and the late Joe Scarborough Rash Roberts. Surviving are his sons, Gordon Roberts of Asheville and Terry Roberts of Cheraw, SC.; daughter, Sandra Ray of Burnsville; step-son, Don Rash of Grand Blanc, Mi.; step-daughters, Joan Harding of Winston-Salem and Barbara Des Jardins of Chadds Ford, PA.; half sisters, Virginia West of Weaverville, Aretha Honeycutt of Woodfin, Elizabeth Whittemore of Atlanta, Ga., Betty Patton of Weaverville and Christine Burelson of Asheville; half-brothers, Tony Roberts of Asheville, Eugene Roberts of Arden and Gary Roberts of Weaverville; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Jennettie Hagan. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Lewis and Dr. James Johnston officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
