Weaverville - Clee Othor Bishop, 74, of 73 Kennedy Road Annex died Friday, August 9, 2002 at his residence following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, Mr. Bishop had resided in Buncombe County for over 21 years. He retired in April of 1990 as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight Ways and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a son of the late Jess Andrew Bishop and Bertha Queen Rice Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ida Lee Bishop and brothers, Tommy and James Opal Bishop. Surviving are his wife, Lucile Morrison Bishop of the home; daughters, Mary Ann Oberholtzer and husband, Jack of Gambrills, Maryland, Clee Ella Knooihuizen and husband, Steve of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Christy Lynn Bishop of the home; sisters, Asaleen Rogers of Asheville and Jane Hendrix of Marshall; brother, Ulus Bishop of Alexander; grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, Joshua, Terri, Erin, Courtney, Audra and Olivia; great granddaughter, Briana and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs Wes Pike and Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
