Clarence Richard Hendrix

Arden - Clarence Richard Hendrix, 63, of 86 Ball Mountain Road, died Sunday August 19, 2001 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1982 from the Buncombe County Sheriffs Dept. where he had formerly served as Chief of Police for the town of Weaverville and was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Clarence Eugene and Mary Emma Revis Hendrix and was also preceded in death by a sister, Cora Belle Richardson. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Vicki Hendrix with whom he made his home.; grandchildren, Taylor and Jake Hendrix of the home; sisters, Sarah Fish and husband Harry, of Canton, Betty Brown and husband Winfred of Candler, Martha Grooms of Candler and Rebecca Floyd and husband Fred of Aiken, S.C.; brothers, Ernest Hendrix and wife Tula of Lake Junaluska and David Hendrix and wife Anita of Candler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will be in Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
