Fairview – Clarence Hillard Roper, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Elizabeth House.
A native of Franklin, he was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir with the men’s singing group. He was a Past Master of the John A. Nichols Lodge, AF&AM and was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Roper was the son of the late Roby Clarence Roper and Lola Bryant Roper, and husband of the late Joyce Swafford Roper who died February 19, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Terrell Roper and Gil Roper.
Surviving are his children: Kim L. Roper, and Ron Roper and wife Donna; grandchildren: Rick Roper and wife Chandler, and Jeremiah Roper; great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Caiden and Joyce; and niece and nephews: Steve, Theresa, and David.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, November 5, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. John Raby officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military honors to be presented by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2 till 3 PM Sunday prior to services at the funeral home.
