Clarence Griffin

Asheville Clarence Ernest Griffin, 70, of 731 Macedonia Road passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was formerly employed with Burlington Industries for over 20 years, was a long time member and Deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a Truck Driver for several companies and also served in the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany. Mr. Griffin was a son of the late Deedy Este Griffin and Stella Ratcliffe Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Franklin Griffin and granddaughter, Heather Griffin. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Mozelle Extine Griffin of the home; daughter, Sharon Griffin Morris of Greensboro; son, Gary Griffin & wife Sandy of Asheville; grandsons, Jason Morris and Bradley Griffin; granddaughters, Jessica and Amy Griffin; step son, Ricky David Price of Black Mountain; step grandson, David Price; step granddaughter, Christina Crawford; two step great granddaughters; sisters, Wilma Sluder & husband Bill and Pauline Holcombe & husband Oscar all of Alexander; brothers, Orville Griffin & wife Billie of Weaverville and James Griffin of Alexander; several nieces and nephews and special cat Taz. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Phillips and Rev. James Crayton officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
