Asheville Christine Phillips Clark, 74, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 24, 2016, at her home, following a courageous eleven year battle with cancer. She grew up in Madison County, and resided in Asheville since 1960. Mrs. Clark was a graduate of Mars Hill College, where she received her BA in Education, and taught 1st and 3rd grades at Faith Christian Academy for most of her career. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Clark was guided by Faith and showed her love through action. She enjoyed crafts, reading, gardening, and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was the daughter of the late Robert and Cloia Ramsey Phillips. She was also preceded in death by six brothers: Glen, Edward, Dewey, Fred, Bernard, and Willie Phillips. Surviving are her husband, William Floyd Clark of Flesher's Fairview Health and Retirement Center in Fairview; children: Cynthia Rand, Danny Clark, and Heidi Clark; grandchildren: AshleyRose Sullivan (Scott), Ayla Christine Rand, Isabella Joy Clark, and Adam Robert Drum; sisters: Lola Bradley and Nola Davis; brothers: James Phillips (Mary Ann), and Levi Phillips (Lois Ann); and many sisters and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.mmrf.org. Our Mama & Nana was a source of strength and courage. She was a fine caregiver to her husband, teacher, and best friend to many.
