Christay A. Orr

Asheville - Christay Ailene Ward Orr, 94, of 71 Ridgelawn Road died Wednesday June 2, 2004 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Mt. Airy, she resided in Asheville since 1955. She retired in 1985 as a private duty nurse and was a member of St. Georges Episcopal Church. She was a U.S. Army , Nursing Division veteran of WWII. She was the daughter of the late Theodore W. and Elizabeth Florence Jones Ward and the wife of the late George William Orr, who died in 1984. Surviving are her sons, William Robert Bill Orr of Asheville and Theodore Ward Orr of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Father Tom Rightmyer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Volunteer Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
