Charlie Metcalf

March 3, 1929 — December 11, 2020

Fairview – Emerson Charles “Charlie” Metcalf, Jr., 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Flesher’s Fairview Rest Home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired following over 30 years of service from American Enka Corporation’s Research Lab. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. Mr. Metcalf was the son of the late Emerson Charles Metcalf and Marguerite Louise Bradley Metcalf and husband of Robena Sams Metcalf who died December 11, 2004. Survivng are his daughters, Nancy Lott and husband Neal of Mills River and Debbie Coddington and husband Jeff of Asheville. Family graveside services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with Jeremy Ruby officiating. Military rites will be conducted by an attachment from Shaw Air Force Base. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Flesher’s Fairview Rest Home for their love and compassionate care given to our dad for the past 12 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charlie Metcalf Memorial Fund for Nursing Education at Flesher’s Fairview Rest Home, P.O. Box 1160, Fairview, NC 28730.
